The Rimbun Dahan Turtle Hatchery aims to save as many endangered Green Sea Turtle eggs hatched on the beaches along Chendor, Cherating, Pahang. Each time, a mother turtle will lay 70-140 eggs. The Hatchery volunteer will go directly to the beach laying site and purchase green sea turtle eggs from poachers and locals so it isn’t sold to the market for consumption. We then re-nest the eggs by digging into the sand 2 feet and bury the eggs within the Hatchery’s fenced protected area. It takes 45-60 days for the eggs to hatch. The eggs are monitored closely for safe release into the ocean once the turtles are hatched.
